The Legacy of Blackwater
Blackwater is a story of evolution and adventure. What began as a close-knit World of Warcraft gaming guild in 2006 has grown into a thriving League of Legends community and, now, a pirate-themed educational game publishing company. From epic battles in Azeroth to innovative game design, Blackwater continues to embody the spirit of camaraderie, exploration, and creativity.
From our humble beginnings in Azeroth to epic battles in Summoner’s Rift, Blackwater Buccaneers has always been a haven for misfits, rebels, and lone adventurers—a place where everyone is welcomed, connections are forged, and friendships are born. Today, we’ve expanded our horizons to create educational games like the Lumen PhotoVocab Game, blending creativity and learning while staying true to our roots in the gaming community.

Chapters of Our Journey
Chapter 1: Origins in Azeroth (World of Warcraft)
The story of Blackwater began in 2006 within the vibrant, sprawling world of Azeroth (World of Warcraft). Blackwater Buccaneers was founded by me, Neavu, an undead warlock, and Baserkah, a tauren warrior (played by my Australian pen pal Matty), the guild quickly grew into a home for adventurers near and far. With my husband Karl (Drocer, an undead mage) and a growing crew of both real-life and online friends, Blackwater Buccaneers became more than just a guild—it was a family.”
The idea for our pirate-themed guild came during late-night adventures fueled by Deviate Delight, a magical in-game treat that temporarily turned our characters into pirates. From that playful spark, we embraced a swashbuckling identity, adopting a red, black, and gold color scheme to reflect our fiery spirit and fierce loyalty. Our mascot, the octopus, symbolized our adaptability, intelligence, and deep connection to the seas of adventure.
Blackwater Buccaneers thrived as a World of Warcraft guild for nearly a decade, welcoming casual gamers who valued fun and connection over competitive play. Beyond traditional raids and quests, Baserkah and I loved exploring the unconventional side of Azeroth, from discovering graphic exploits to creating hilarious videos that captured our adventures. Blackwater was more than just a guild—it was a place for creativity, experimentation, and a celebration of the joy of gaming in all its forms.
